About
MISSION: to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
MORE ABOUT WHAT WE DO AND WHAT WE BELIEVE: can be found here and here.
WORSHIP SERVICES: Our worship style is “blended,” combining what we hope are the best elements of traditional and contemporary worship. Sunday morning services are at 8:10 am in the chapel and at 10:50 am in the sanctuary. We celebrate Holy Communion an average of once a month, usually on the first Sunday of the month. We have an “open table” for Holy Communion, meaning everyone present is invited to partake. Childcare is provided in the nursery during the 10:50 worship service.
TAIZE SERVICE: This is a short, meditative prayer service that supplements Sunday worship. It is held at 7:15 pm in the chapel on the first Wednesday of every month.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES: We have educational opportunities for all ages at 9:30 Sunday morning, and short term studies during the week. More information about children’s Sunday School is available on the children’s page.
PEOPLE: People were at the heart of Jesus’ ministry. Members and friends are at the core of First United Methodist Church. A list of our current church officers, known as the “Committee on Lay Leadership Report,” is contained in the 2008 Church Conference Packet which is available on the downloads page.
YOUTH: Our youth meet regularly at 5 pm on Sundays for small group discussions, games, and movies. They also attend district and conference retreats, camps and mission events. The youth meet in room 203 (There is an interior map on the downloads page).
PASTORS: Revs. John and Jennifer Collins share pastoral responsibilities. Jenny has a degree in industrial engineering from Kansas State University, and received her Masters of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology in 2000. John has a degree in history from Fort Hays State University and received his Masters of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology in 1999. They have a daughter, Elizabeth, who is six.
