Pack their Packs
Please Note: this page is being left up for information purposes, however the Pack Their Packs program has already been completed for the 2009-2010 school year.
The Salvation Army Community Service Volunteers and First United Methodist Church are teaming up to co-sponsor the Pack Their Packs program for the 2009-2010 school year. Last year this program supplied over 600 backpacks and school supplies to local students in need. Because of the economic downturn, demand this year is expected to be even greater. We’ll happily accept both monetary and in kind donations.
The school supplies needed are:
- wide lined notebook paper
- 70 sheet spiral notebooks
- 3 prong folders with pockets
- boxes of 24 Crayola Crayons (the school accepts only Crayola)
- #2 pencils
- black or blue pens (no retractable or gel pens)
- pink erasers
- Elmer’s glue (the school accepts only Elmer’s)
- Fiskars brand pointed scissors (children or youth sized)
Enthusiasm and success go together. To a child, nothing demonstrates the possibility of a fresh start at the beginning of a school year like a new backpack filled with school supplies. The Bible demonstrates a consistent concern for those in need. Long ago, Jesus blessed the children (Mark 10.14-16), we have the opportunity to be instruments of that blessing. Please give generously.
Both monetary and in kind donations are being accepted at:
