Pack their Packs
The Salvation Army Community Service Volunteers and First United Methodist Church teamed up to co-sponsor the Pack Their Packs program for the 2010-2011 school year. This program supplied over backpacks and school supplies to 575 Coffeyville students. 26 volunteers put in over 204 hours to pack the packs. We continue to accept both monetary and in kind donations for next year.
The school supplies needed are:
- wide lined notebook paper
- 70 sheet spiral notebooks
- 3 prong folders with pockets
- boxes of 24 Crayola Crayons (the school accepts only Crayola)
- #2 pencils
- black or blue pens (no retractable or gel pens)
- pink erasers
- Elmer’s glue (the school accepts only Elmer’s)
- Fiskars brand pointed scissors (children or youth sized)
Enthusiasm and success go together. To a child, nothing demonstrates the possibility of a fresh start at the beginning of a school year like a new backpack filled with school supplies. The Bible demonstrates a consistent concern for those in need. Long ago, Jesus blessed the children (Mark 10.14-16), we have the opportunity to be instruments of that blessing. Please give generously.
Both monetary and in kind donations are being accepted at:
