The idea above, reinforced by Genesis’ accounts of creation, Paul’s statement that all of creation is groaning for salvation (Romans 8) and other scripture passages grounds the Recycling program at First United Methodist Church.

ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR RECYCLING

PLASTIC:
#1 – Soda Bottles, Peanut butter containers, salad dressing bottles, and other containers properly marked with a #1 in the chasing arrow! Only green and clear containers are accepted. Please rinse clean and remove lids. Removing the lids is very important.

#2 – There are two types of #2 plastic, colored and natural. Natural #2 are the color of Milk Jugs. Milk jugs, butter tubs, detergent bottles, bleach bottles, and other containers properly marked with a #2 in the chasing arrow are accepted. Please rinse clean and remove lids. Flatten if possible. Motor oil containers are not accepted.

ALUMINUM CANS:
Beverage cans only. Aluminum foil or foil containers are not accepted.

STEEL CANS:
Rinse clean, no need to remove labels. No paint or aerosol cans are accepted.

GLASS BOTTLES/JARS:
Clear, Amber (brown), or green. Please rinse clean. No need to separate colors.

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD  AND PAPER GROCERY BAGS:
Please fold flat. Cardboard can be identified as double layered cardboard. Paper grocery bags should be placed with cardboard because they are made of the same material.

NEWSPAPERS:
The entire newspaper including the inserts are acceptable.

OFFICE WASTE AND JUNK MAIL:
Please take to the church office.

SHREDDED OFFICE WASTE AND JUNK MAIL:
White paper, copy paper, letterhead, computer printout, pastel colored paper, carbonless paper, envelopes.

SHREDDED OFFICE PAPER:
Please place in a plastic bag.

MAGAZINES:
Any shape or type. Catalogs should be placed with magazines.

PAPERBOARD:
Such as cereal boxes. Please fold flat

DROP OFF:
Please sort all materials. Please take your sorted recyclable materials down to Room 001 (where the Tri-M class used to meet). If you would like to help take these items to the recycling center contact the church office.
